I have diverse experience in biology with an emphasis on plants. I teach a variety of courses in biology, both lab and lecture including botany, molecular biology, genetics and genomics, general biology and environmental systems science. My research background has explored plant internal and external communication (with an interest in homologies between the human nervous system and plant signaling systems), plant evolution (with an interest in the evolution of seeds), and conservation of plant diversity. In my spare time I serve as an advisor to review screenplays and novels for scientific validity and have submitted a patent for an invention to help children clear their sinuses.
