As a part of the Application Management Support Services project, and a team lead of the COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) team of 12, I support all SEC divisions and over 80 applications (Corporate Finance, Economic Risk Analysis, Enforcement, Investment Management, and Trading/Markets). Main responsibilities include daily support with issues and requests, off-hour implementation, system status checks, and personally responsible for the following applications: ImageNow, NoviSurvey, Entrypoint, Evidence Tracking System, Accellion/Kiteworks, USAccess, Sendsuite, WebCRD. Also lead/contribute in emergency bridge conference calls to troubleshoot and remediate application outages/service degradations with other OIT teams such as Windows/Linux server admins, Network engineering, Database, and Security teams. My goal is to become a project manager as I feel I have the interpersonal skills, and to also work earlier in the SDLC lifecycle by gathering requirements and developing deployment and O&M plans/scope. Other responsibilities include: • Team Management — I actively triage customer reported issues and requests based off urgency while ensuring work is being divided efficiently. Balance workload with training new team members while also ensuring that they understand our standard work procedures. • Support the Disaster Recovery Event — Facilitate team meetings for annual planning, drafting/submitting change requests for affected systems, participating in OIT wide meetings on behalf of the team, and resolving issues that arise due to failover complications. The same steps are also taken when failing back to the primary datacenter. • Conduct Interviews for Potential Hires — Was asked by the Principal of the project to conduct interviews for multiple positions across the project, including positions that I do not have experience in. • Served as a POC for Communication to Federal Clients — Communicated status updates to senior OIT leadership across all divisions in order to support the SEC mission and to provide updates on large scale/high priority issues. These updates included: escalation of issues, requested approval to take action, relayed information from the vendor, and proposed new approaches to issue resolution. • Application Modernization—Implemented application upgrades, and was responsible for the following tasks on new servers across all environments: installed base software, web server configuration, worked with the security team to modify McAfee firewall rules, database schema creation, and produced professional level SOP documentation.
