About Eric Carlson

As a second-generation AV Rated attorney who specializes in product liability, toxic tort, fire investigations, trucking litigation and general liability work, I have had the opportunity to represent and defend many large and small clients across the country. I am an active member of the Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas and New York Bars, am admitted in several Federal Courts throughout the country. When Texas became the “hotbed” of toxic tort litigation, I started the first branch of Crivello Carlson outside of Wisconsin in Houston, Texas. I then established the office of Crivello Carlson in Chicago, Illinois, and was instrumental in the merger and formation of the office in Madison County, Illinois. Since the 1990s I have been involved in the defense of many clients involved in asbestos litigation nationwide. From my time working on asbestos cases in Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, New York, Mississippi, Louisiana and other jurisdictions, I have developed a good rapport with many plaintiff’s counsel throughout the United States. In a Wisconsin action, I was successful in arguing corporate successor liability before the Wisconsin Supreme Court on behalf of a refractories company client sued in an asbestos matter. Ironically, the main case I relied upon in my argument was a published case that my father had argued before the Wisconsin Supreme Court years before. Throughout my career, I have participated in hundreds of product, explosion and fire inspections throughout the United States. I believe that an early investigation of a situation that could result in litigation is imperative to obtain facts and preserve evidence in the event a lawsuit is brought forward. Since my first days of practice, I have been involved in trucking litigation. In a case brought in Federal Court in Illinois, I successfully defended a large trucking company and their driver in a semi-tractor trailer collision – plaintiff’s counsel had asked the jury to return a $20 million verdict but, ultimately, the jury found our driver and company not at fault. Over the years, I have gained expertise in knowing which cases should be settled and which cases should be tried. If a case needs to be tried, I am more than willing to try it as I have tried numerous cases to jury verdict. On a personal level, I am happily married to a lovely wife and have twin eight-year-old boys. I have been active in coaching youth hockey and baseball. Our family enjoys various outdoor activities, including various sports, boating and exploring at our local Audubon Society.
