About Eric Connor

I began my journey in nonprofit/ community based work during the summer of 2007 as a Peer Adviser Tutor for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at Stony Brook University (SBU). I continued doing summer program work under SBU’s EOP program until the summer of 2009 as Head Peer Adviser Tutor. During this experience, I was able to assist hundreds of incoming freshmen with their transition from High School to College while also managing a staff of 16 Peer Adviser Tutors as well. Working closely with the Director of the summer program and it’s stakeholders (program staff, students, families, and campus administration) is what sparked my interest in working with a team (or teams) to support a others. Fast forward to 2017, my experience as Program Director for the Young Adult Borough Program (of Good Shepherd Services) at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, I did similar work but from the High School side of the higher education post- secondary plan. As a Program Director, I was supervising a team of Advocate Counselors, a Social Worker, an Internship & Career Coordinator and others to assist the young adult participants in their completion and transition out of High School to any post- secondary plan of their choosing (higher education, vocational/ trade education, Armed Services, Employment, Etc). Using that experience, I now serve as Assistant Director for the entire agency of Good Shepherd Services, under the Impact & Strategy Division. In this role, I am responsible for the implementation and management of the agency’s current Strategic Plan for 2023-2028. I am also able to support all programs within the agency, as well as connect with external organizations, to develop intentional and impactful initiatives to support our work. Helping others and making powerful, impactful and intentional connections is what I pride myself in and I am passionate about personal and professional development of all types. I am a leader, a coach, a mentor, an advocate and a support system for those in need. I look forward to connecting with you and doing GREAT work!
