About Eric Dales

As an international development professional and social entrepreneur, I have spent the majority of my career overseas. Through a desire to contribute to positive, systemic change in the world, I have been fortunate enough to work with the United Nations and not-for profits in the United States, Bangladesh and Thailand. My roles have centred around project management, public partnerships and policy advocacy, specifically in the fields of inclusive growth and trade. In my most recent position in Bangladesh, I led a team from the UN and several national Universities to conduct research in 20 of the country’s poorest districts. The project resulted in an in-depth report on the barriers that the poorest market actors in Bangladesh face in benefiting from trade finance. Through this position I also served as the UN lead for a multi-day summit of G77 countries on the role of emerging economies in financing development and facilitating technology transfer. With skills and experience gained through years of working overseas, my partner and I started TAMGA Designs in 2013, and took it on full time in 2015. As a sustainable fashion brand, we are taking aim at the massive problem of worker and environmental exploitation in the fashion industry – an issue we witnessed all too closely in while living in Bangladesh. TAMGA Designs was selected to receive funding and mentorship from Futurpreneur Canada in summer 2016, and raised through a successful crowdfunding campaign in November of the same year. The business is currently a team of three, producing garments through an eco-friendly and ethical supply chain in Indonesia, and shipping orders internationally from Toronto, Canada.
