About Eric Deleu

I have been a dedicated sound engineer since 1988, working across diverse industries such as music, film, radio, and television. My passion for sound began at the age of seven when I was captivated by the emotions evoked by my father's tape-recording machine. By the age of 14, I was involved in managing sound for school drama productions. This early experience ignited my love for music, leading me to DJ at parties a few years later. In 1987-1988, I earned a bachelor's degree in Sound Engineering in I.A.D- Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. Shortly after, I began recording classical music concerts and completed internships on film sets as an electrician. I also assisted a sound recordist as a boom operator and supervised sound production for several documentaries during my military service. In 1989, I relocated to Naples, where I worked for a record company recording and mixing songs for "Cantanti Neomelodici"(Neapolitan singers). Later that year, I moved to Rome and spent two years with a major television service company. There, I produced sound for various TV programs, including entertainment shows, talk shows, news gathering, sports events, live concerts, and documentaries for both major Italian broadcasters and international networks. From 1991 to 1993, I worked as a freelance sound recordist and boom operator on two films. During this time, I also recorded live performances of classical music and opera, while continuing my work in television. Since 1993, I have been part of the Communication Department at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. My role encompasses radio and television production, sound design, and video production. I specialize in creating audio content for documentaries, social media, podcasts, and audiobooks. My expertise includes working as a boom operator, sound recordist, sound editor, sound designer, dubbing engineer, and mixing engineer.
