About Eric Engel

My previous daily tasks at Biolegend have given me particular skills such as maintaining the sterility and health of numerous hybridoma clones at volumes beginning at 10ml and increasing to volumes of 100L in a fast pace, aseptic environment. I also troubleshoot problematic cell lines in order to optimize their growth, viability, and output. These experiences were built because of my time at the University of Sheffield, where I was exposed to many techniques in molecular biology. These methods include nucleic acid analysis and manipulation including purification, amplification, labeling, hybridization, and PCR. My coursework at Sheffield primarily covered Next Generation Sequencing where I gained my interest in being able to design, conduct, analyze, troubleshoot, and present experiments to demonstrate feasibility of new and existing library preparation methods for genomic applications. When involved in my master’s dissertation project I had to analyze large complex datasets of multiple growth conditions of a lymphoblastoid cell line. Those opportunities along with my current role working with hybridoma cell lines gave me the unique ability to spot trends within each condition as they were arising as well as understand how each individual trend was affecting the overall dataset.
