About Eric Giunta

I develop software for the Million Person Study to be able to apply emerging statistical methods to scales of data not typical for radiation epidemiological studies. My work is focused on the testing and development of the R package Colossus, which is designed to perform large scale survival analysis. My typical responsibilities include working with a team of dosimetrists, epidemiologists, and statisticians and incorporating their design needs into the package. Every capability required is written, bench-marked, and tested to make sure that it meet their needs, it runs problems without error, and the principals of big data programming are followed at every step. I've previously worked on projects centered around radiation simulation. My thesis work for my masters was on characterizing Kansas State University's TRIGA reactor as a source term for a MCNP6 simulation, predict dose patterns in a cell sample for linear and rotational paths, and automate optimizing the path for dose uniformity.
