About Eric Hantz

Current postdoctoral research fellow in the Renslo Lab at the University of California, San Francisco. My research merges computational and experimental techniques to further drug discovery efforts and elucidate the impacts of stacking interactions. Earned my Ph.D. while in the Lindert Research Group at The Ohio State University. My graduate research was aimed at developing potential treatments for congestive heart failure using a multi-pronged approach. I utilized free energy methods such as adaptive steered molecular dynamics and thermodynamic integration to characterize the effects of divalent cations binding to site II in cardiac troponin C in wild-type and mutant variants. Additionally, structure-based drug discovery (SBDD) methods were employed in an effort to identify novel calcium sensitizing small molecules. I prefer to be contacted at my email, eric.hantz@ucsf.edu.
