About Eric Iversen

I am an engineer in training passionate about the marine industry and vessel construction and maintenance. I grew up around boats and the ocean, leading to strong marine skills and an appreciation for the difficulty of working on or around the ocean. These skills have proved invaluable during my work experience, allowing me to get up to speed and being a productive member of the companies much quicker. I was a member of the UVic Submarine Racing club, taking the lead on the analysis of the hydrodynamic drag and improvement of a ducted propeller. With the submarine club I was able to develop hands on engineering and manufacturing experiences while designing new components and working to manufacture a new hull. My largest project as a member of the submarine cub was the design and manufacture of several new propellers to evaluate the effects of differing blade length and number of blades. My most recent work experience has involved positions at Robert Allan Ltd. and Babcock Canada. In these positions I was able to gain valuable experience in the design of working vessels and the commissioning of Royal Canadian Navy Victoria Class Submarines. While at Babcock I was introduced to the requirements of safely working at a shipyard and the crucial importance of ensuring the safety of a vessel before it is released to service.
