Background
About Eric J Kaupanger
My top priority is developing relationships, both internal and external. I pursue this top priority by motivating, encouraging, and mentoring colleagues. I thrive on respecting all people and recognizing their unique abilities. I also have a passion for representing and supporting clients as a fiduciary and providing long-term support behind the relationships.I entered college in 1982 as a petroleum engineering student; but shortly after had a change in heart and passion to hydrogeology and environmental engineering while viewing a documentary of children succumbing to leukemia linked to the public water supply. My career began in 1986 while attending Montana Tech in the Mile High Mining City of Butte where he assisted the Coast Guard's Pacific Coast Strike Team with emergency response to the Montana Pole Treating Plant Superfund Site, the United States' longest emergency response. While working at the Pole Plant, I served as primary operator of the groundwater pump and treat remediation system for Montana Tech to Reidel Environmental Services and Keystone Environmental Services; he also conducted geological and groundwater contaminant modeling in accordance with my graduate school responsibilities in hydrogeology at Montana Tech.I have had a versatile and balanced career of various levels of responsibility with a solid start in the field as a tool hand associated with water well drilling, operator of a mobile environmental lab, field engineer and construction superintendent, a hydrogeologist conducting field testing and monitoring, and startup and commissioning of many types of water and wastewater treatment systems. I have taken designs from the office to the field to oversee the construction of soil and groundwater remediation systems, industrial water treatment systems and high-purity water treatment systems, potable water treatment facilities, and wastewater treatment facilities. His design philosophy and strategy hinges on communication with operators and contractors to provide treatment systems that are buildable, safe, and operator friendly. I have also been involved with water reuse projects. Additionally, I served 13 years as a senior civil engineer and regulator for the Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Program of Maricopa County Environmental Services Department in Phoenix, Arizona. He is a certified ADEQ operator for water treatment, wastewater treatment, distribution systems, and collection systems.
