About Eric Johnston

It's strange to return and rewrite a summary about yourself. As professionals, we need to do this every so often to update new skills and new abilities we've learned. As I am writing this now, I can look back on over a decade of user experience and product design projects. I'm not sure where the time went but as they say, time flies when you're having fun. User Experience/Product design is just that for me, its fun. A good user experience designer is like a detective, we are always seeking the truths in our designs. I am also one that believes a good UX designer is one that can be an advocate for the end user. That said, in the decade plus of time I've been doing this, I've had projects where my customer wasn't my end user, or the persona I was designing for had a counter-intuitive solution. I've done Saas products, CRM products, Consumer facing products. Long story short, I've loved every minute of this profession because it is always growing and changing but we are always looking for the truth in design. For me truth in design is dependent upon the project. Sometimes it's the least path of resistance, other times its trusting the usability test results over intuition. No project is the same but the process is. I get to put on my detective hat, learn more about the project and the people I am working for and hunt for that truth in design.
