In 1978 I was recruited to become the Director of Research for a real estate investment company in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1990 I established Karnes Research Company. Karnes Research Company did economic and real estate research for clients including investors, developers, lenders, and planners. Additionally we created quarterly apartment, office, industrial, and retail reports for the Charlotte and Raleigh Durham markets. In 1995 I expanded operations to an office in Raleigh in addition to the one in Charlotte. I then retired to Denver in and joined James Real Estate Services, Inc, in 2012. JRES is a full-service commercial real estate appraisal and advisory firm based in Denver, Colorado that specializes in real estate decision support.
