About Eric Khong

Grit. This is my favourite word. It has helped me defy many odds over the years. Based on personal experience here are some examples: 1.My IB years in 2004-06. I was told by my family and peers that I should just accept offers from mediocre universities in the UK. Well to be fair I had a slow start. My IB predicted grades were as low as 24. But through grit, I got 36 and went to study in Durham. 2.My Masters year 2011-12 in Warwick University. My confidence were at all time low at the time after a spell of unsuccessful career in equity research. I have always hated statistics and as a result I failed that module. I was on the verge of failing my masters degree had I not passed the resit. The odds were against me! I got the lowest mark ever! But I put in the work 5 hours a day and as a result I aced Business Statistics module. 3.This is my favourite and perhaps the highlight of Grit in my life. I was diagnosed in 2013 with severe obesity.Had all kinds of health problems! I was a 100Kg. So I decided to hit the gym. Again family and friends all underestimated me. They think I wouldn't be able to make it and lose weight. But what happened after 8 months shocked even myself. Through consistent visit to the gym I lost 23Kgs and have the ideal bodyweight till now and still living a healthy lifestyle till now! On top of that I even finished Half Marathons! Constantly finishing in the top 3% of all participants! Who could have thought that this was possible Right now in my 30s I am seeking redemption in Financial market. True the odds are against me right now. But give me the chance for consistency in this field I am sure you won't regret it! I am currently in the process of pursuing the CFA charter. After clearing Level 1 back in Apr 22, I am now trying to pass the CFA Level 2 exam.
