About Eric Lecuyer

I lead a multi-disciplinary research team composed of research professionals and trainees (i.e. students, postdocs) at different career stages with broad expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics and bio-informatics. We are primarily focused on studying the biological functions and mechanisms of intracellular RNA transport, as well as their dysfunctions in diseases such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Myotonic Dystrophy and cancer. Our team innovates experimental and computational methods/resources to study RNA regulation. We also have a keen interest in developing new tools to enhance the targeting and efficiency of therapeutic RNA molecules. Since establishing my lab, I have managed a funding portfolio of >20M$ obtained through competitive funding programs from diverse agencies/foundations, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Genome Canada, Génome Québec, ALS Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, Cancer Research Society, Fonds de Recherche Québec-Santé, IVADO and the National Institutes of Health. I have trained over 60 students and research professionals, underlining my strong commitment to scientific mentorship.
