About Eric Lee

I was born in South Korea in 2003 and migrated to Australia in 2006. You may think that because I came to Australia at such a young age I would be able to understand and speak English to a certain extent. No. I didn't have the chance to attend kindergarten or prep due to my family's financial situation (at the time). In 2009 I finally had the chance to attend school. However, due to my lack of proficiency in English, I struggled. From year 1 to year 9 my grades weren't the best. You could say I failed. Year 10 was when it all changed. I met a lawyer. His knowledge and the way he spoke particularly stood out to me. That was when I knew I needed to study law. So, I tried. The hard work paid off and I got accepted by the University of Queensland to study Bachelor of Law (Honors) and Business Management.The point is I failed numerous times, but I had resilience. Now, I am fluent in English and I have 11 months of experience as a Clerk in Commercial Law which assisted me in developing a foundation of transferable skills and knowledge in Commercial Law. During my tenure at NXT Legal and Compliance, my achievements are as follows- I have drafted numerous affidavits of service, statutory demands, affidavits accompanying the statutory demand, statements of claim, affidavits, brief to counsel, and pieces of advice- I also have billed clients, conducted legal research, submitted court documents to the registrar, attended court proceedings, managed files, collected witness statements, and proceeded with applications to wind up companies. My main strength is the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients. I developed this skill through client management, telephone etiquette, client liaison and assisting colleagues. Most importantly, where an issue arises my response is never 'I don't know' or 'I am unsure'. I always communicate by providing a solution regardless of it being incorrect. Furthermore, due to my experience in drafting legal documents, I am efficient, precise, and adapt quickly to feedback. I am also capable of self-learning. This has allowed me to meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy and deepened my understanding of complex legal matters. Lastly, I have a growth mindset and a proactive approach.
