About Eric Liu

As a Chemical Biology Co-op student at McMaster University, my interests lie in pharmaceutical chemistry, specifically in the field of oligonucleotides and their applications in drug development and delivery. During my time as a research assistant in the Bujold Group, I synthesized cationic phosphate backbone modified oligonucleotides and functionalized spherical nucleic acids, examining their behaviour for drug delivery applications. This has drawn me towards the fields of nanomedicine, precision medicine, and bio-therapeutics. My curiosity extend to concepts at the intersections of chemistry, biology, and physics where I am fascinated by how these fields are integrated to tackle complex challenges and create novel healthcare solutions. I hope to leverage my knowledge and interests within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, particularly in the rapidly evolving field of oligonucleotide-based therapeutics.
