About Eric Lum

My undergraduate years have given me exposure in many different disciplines of Electrical and Computer engineering. Signal processing attracted me as it struck a fine balance between having practical applications in the industry, as well as being built on a very solid foundation of mathematical concepts. On the other hand, my internships presented a variety of R&D environments to develop and execute test stratagem. Finding corner cases has always appealed to me as it required critical, and at times unconventional thinking. My graduate research were primarily based on medical imaging - namely postprocessing of diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging (dMRI) data. Throughout my studies there have been ample opportunities to pursue mathematical interests including but not limited to probability, transforms and linear algebra. Upon graduating with a Master of Applied Science degree I revisited the Quality Assurance role, with a stronger emphasis on test automation. Although there were less mathematical challenges in this field, the technical writing and problem solving skills that I've acquired during my graduate research proved invaluable in my day to day work.
