Background
About Eric M. Lysiak
What I like best are solving problems, problems that you may not even know that you have. Lately, my career has been reviewing the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) along with the standards and Regulatory Guides (RG), the issues that I have been finding the most, centers around independence, isolation, single-failure and having an electric design failsafe; more specifically for nuclear generation applications.I am an electrical engineer with the majority of my career involved with controls, underground, medium and high-current/voltage T&D electrical systems. This includes: RDT & E, the applications of dielectric materials, polymers and conductive metals as used within electrical cables, splices, connectors, accessories along with their supporting control systems. This also includes smart systems and real time solutions, that provide critical feedback to the decision makers, keeping the systems within the materials constraints, ensuring that when the electrical system need to perform due to an event; transparency. This covers the daily reliable operations of the electrical systems, ensuring that highly loaded insulation systems operate as planned, the standard text book solution. What I find that is key, is asking those other questions; upfront - failure mode and fault duty performance, reliability and survivability of those same systems; this is where the experience and attention to detail(s) comes into plays, ensuring that the electrical materials and designs met and exceed the related military and private sector standards and specifications, while operating as indented during that time of need.Addressing the questions upfront, along with the development and implementation of those supporting systems in-place, we can ensure that the design as a whole is maximized; providing the customer, a quality product that provides a cost savings, while safely managing the associated risks, stacking the deck in favor of the military combatant or electrical utility.Specialties: Aligning the Code of Federal Regulations with standards applications; to ensure they meet the failsafe criteria. Electrical Generation, Substations, Transmission & Distribution – Connectors, Dielectric Testing, Cables designs and their applications, Protection applications, Fault duty designs, Standards, Guides, Specifications, Regulations, New pressure rubber profile test, Automation, Harmonics.
