About Eric Marinich

I'm a fun-loving Leo who likes to work hard and play hard. I like spending time with my family and playing with my dog, Bella. I earned my undergraduate degree in finance from Miami University in idyllic Oxford, Ohio, and made the cross-country trip after graduation to Phoenix, where I worked for a software developer in an accounting and finance role. I was recruited by an investment banking firm in 2003, so I spent the next three years working as an accountant for the broker-dealer unit of two investment banking firms. In 2006, I left practice for academia. I earned my Master of Science in Accounting degree at the University of Cincinnati, and enjoyed it so much I never left! I joined Michigan State’s doctoral program in 2008 and earned my PhD in 2013. I accepted my first academic position as an assistant professor at my alma mater, Miami University. I have two publications (in Management Science and the Journal of Management Accounting Research), and I enjoy teaching introductory- and upper-level managerial accounting courses. I also teach a consulting course for graduate students in the Master of Science in Management program at the Farmer School of Business, which is a lot of fun. And last but not least - maybe my biggest accomplishment to date - is finishing the Walt Disney World Marathon in 2023. I crossed the finish line in just over 6 hours (!) and helped raise over for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the process. It was one of the most meaningful, incredible experiences I've ever had and I'm so grateful I was able to participate (and finish!)
