About Eric McCann
I initially went for training to become a draftsman after high school, learning both manual drafting and CAD. I found myself working on the computers themselves, though, more than the drawings - from hardware and software troubleshooting to AutoLISP scripting to make mass drawing conversion easier. Since then, with a few breaks, I have worked in the technical support field, supporting everything from 386 and 486 based systems running DOS and Windows 3.1 to the latest and greatest running Windows 8, the old Macintoshes, Power Macs and Intel-based Macs, watching as hardware has become more capable and networks have become commonplace in the home rather than the purview of business. I've spent over two decades seriously working with computers, and more importantly helping others learn to use them more effectively, viewing technical support as not just fixing what's broken but as an opportunity to teach.
