About Eric McDaniel

I built my first website in 2004, back when the Internet still felt like the Wild West. It was an experimental and wonderfully unpolished little blog with terrible aesthetics, but it sparked a lifelong passion for programming that’s shaped my career ever since. My path hasn’t been traditional. I spent a decade in the trucking industry before earning my degrees in Computer Science, an experience that taught me the value of reliability, hard work, and follow-through. Today, I’m a software developer at a PBM, enhancing our C++ claims processing engine for speed and regulatory compliance. My background includes full-stack web development using frontend frameworks like Angular and React, and backend technologies such as Node.js and.NET to build REST APIs. I focus on automating manual processes where possible, including developing automated testing, containerizing applications with Docker, and implementing CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployments on Azure DevOps. Outside of work, I enjoy hands-on projects involving analog and digital electronics, prototyping, and home automation using ESP32 and Arduino microcontrollers. Recently, I’ve become deeply immersed in circuit analysis and design. I learned KiCad from the ground up and even had my first custom PCB for an LED gaming platform professionally manufactured. This hands-on experience has transformed my hobby into a full-fledged passion for bridging software with real-world electronics. What continues to drive me is the satisfaction of turning ideas into something tangible, whether it's software that solves a real business problem or interactive hardware that lights up a room. That curiosity and desire to keep learning have guided me throughout my career.
