Background
About Eric McGinnis
Eric is originally from Parkersburg, West Virginia and grew up traveling each weekend to play whichever sport was in season. Throughout his childhood, he watched his grandfather work as an artist and soon picked up a pencil himself. Ultimately, his interest in art and general curiosity with how things work led him to pursue a degree in Architecture at the University of Tennessee. While enrolled in school, Eric studied abroad in Krakow, Poland, which allowed him to travel extensively and provided an opportunity to recreate his grandfather’s sketches that were originally drawn in 1944-1945 while he was serving in WWII. Before graduating from The University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design, Eric was awarded the Tau Sigma Delta Bronze Medal, the prize awarded to the top thesis project. After nearly 10 years at a leading Nashville design firm, Eric started Comma Designworks in 2020 and continues to apply his passion for design on a wide variety of project types with a focus on mixed-use, multifamily, townhouse, and office projects.
