About Eric Model

I offer expertise (through strategizing, advocacy, facilitation and consulting services)- helping people, businesses and communities "be contemporary in a traditional way"- tapping into the benefit of 40 years' experience in media, marketing, travel, community, collaborative problem solving, storytelling ("smart narrative making"), and related legal issues so that they can identify, leverage and monetize what makes them unique. Longer Backgrounder: With a passion for places and things offbeat, off the beaten path, overlooked and forgotten, I had long journeyed on backroads, Main Streets and through hometown neighborhoods for decades in search of finding how and why we make community. In doing so for over 30 years, I eventually found myself to be uniquely situated at an intersection between good content, media, community, sponsorship/marketing, and travel. And, in that position I have been able to create one of a kind ways that inform, entertain, engage while also creating dollars for businesses, communities and others. What started as a labor of love over time turned into a career (including radio features, a syndicated column, book, online services and more), specializing in the offbeat, off the beaten path, overlooked and forgotten. Over that time, I came to appreciate that these services, products and stories were not just informative and entertaining, but could also translate into important and needed dollars to media, business and community when used as what he has come to call “Smart Narratives”.
