About Eric Nuechterlein

I previously lived in Thailand and Colorado, spending 6 months in both countries. My goal now is to return to cycle and dive around the world with my wife, when it is financially feasible for us to "live the dream!" My expertise is in managing people and creating safe and positive work environments. When I managed the Live Aboard Diving boat in the Similan Islands, for Scuba Cat, I never expected my crew to do tasks that I would not do myself. Even though my Thai was far from fluent, I was able to communicate to my crew by various means.mostly we played a lot of charades. One of my crew was a funny Thai man named Noisy, Even though Noisy was mute and deaf, he never stopped "talking!" I tried to lead by example, and when I had time I would help my staff change bed sheets, or do whatever was necessary to get the boat ready for our next guests. We were virtually a floating dive hotel, so we had new guests arriving nearly every day. I loved being out at sea and diving nearly every day, but the hardest part of the job was being away from my family. Currently, I am in training for the 27th Annual Courage Classic and need your support. This is my fourth year riding 157 miles, over 3 mountain passes to raise funds for Children's Hospital Colorado.
