Background
About Eric Oberto
I'm a play-by-ear musician and I have synesthesia (a neurological condition that enables me to see sound in 3-D color patterns, as I hear it). In 1995, my first band- Tungsten Coil relocated from Detroit to Austin, Texas. TC became a headlining staple of the Texas Industrial/Goth scene. We showcased multiple years @ South by Southwest (SXSW). Tungsten Coil was featured in numerous music compilations, released multiple EPs, and two full-length albums- Reactive and Alpha & Omega. Our sound evolved over the years from experimental industrial/goth to a more polished industrial/metal formula. TC won multiple awards, including an Austin Music Award for Best Industrial Band. Our final performance was a SXSW showcase in 2008, where we shared the stage with Peter Murphy of Bauhaus. In 2009, I put Tungsten Coil on hiatus and took an extended break from music to launch a career in the financial industry. My path eventually led to ownership of my own financial company. After several years of success, I decided to sell my company and focus my passion back on music. In 2105, I was influcted with Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in my right ear. When my right ear malfunctioned- my ability to clearly paint musical pictures utilizing synesthesia was severely impaired (and almost lost). Over the next several years, I made multiple unsuccessful attempts to overcome this disability and feared that my songwriting days were over. Finally, in 2020 I found a path to create music by making use of visual computer software programs. These amazing tools didn't make me whole again, but they did provide a renewed path forward! My reignited passion for the arts opened new doors to utilize my talents: Solo Musician, Producer, Director, Actor, Soundtracks Composer, Voice Actor, and Video Editing. In September of 2022, the unthinkable happened, I became inflicted with Sunden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in my left ear and this created a bi-lateral hearing nightmare! I could barely hear anything and on top of that, all sounds smeared together. My synesthesia became completely distorted and useless. Once again, I lost my ability to pursue any of my talents in the artistic world. I felt like my life was over! Then I met Stephen Ambrose of Asius Technologies and decided to join their ADEL (Ambrose Diaphonic Ear Lens) Research Team. I have regained a lot of my hearing and no longer use hearing aids. I can now pursue my creative endeavors once again! I also decided to become an authorized reseller and help bring the ADEL to the world! Stay tuned.
