About Eric Ornelas

Ever since I was a kid I loved to learn. If I didn’t know something I immediately searching for a means to learn it. If a problem presented itself, I would sit for as long as it took to figure it out. Know that I am an adult, these traits have become ingrained into my personality. I taught myself DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Avid, Premier Pro, etc. In film school I felt that I wasn’t getting the full picture of cinematography, so I supplemented my course by reading “Every Frame a Rembrandt”, The 5 C’s of cinematography, and Cinematography Theory and Practice. At the end of film school I was asked to shoot the majority of my classmate’s thesis films. I have edited music videos; short films; spec commercials, LensCrafters, FedEx, and Hoodie Buddy chose to run the commercials I shot as part of their marketing campaigns. I have shot a feature that won the grand prize at the Paso Robles film festival. I have shot on all types of cameras, and I am familiar with how they compress data, strengths and weaknesses, how to take them apart and put them back together. Some of the cameras I haves used are RED, Canon c100, Canon 5D, Alexa, and many more. In the future, I would like to work in a post-house or as a contracted cinematographer. I enjoy the creative process, collaboration, and problem solving of filmmaking.
