About Eric Polzin

My career has always centered around industry, production, and logistics. At Vulcan Materials I was a lead heavy equipment mechanic responsible for overall maintenance of a quarry mining operation fleet of equipment, and also an operator of heavy equipment, as needed. I used this experience in equipment operation to springboard into a position with Port Milwaukee as a crane operator, distinguishing myself through knowledge of all Port equipment and soon overseeing complex and multi-million dollar maintenance repair projects on Port cranes and other equipment. This knowledge positioned me for a promotion to Port Facilities Supervisor/Deputy Harbormaster, reporting to the Harbormaster of Port Milwaukee. As much mentorship as career move, this position introduced me to all aspects of Port administration and operations, including staff/people management, vendor and tenant (Jones Island corporate and industrial leaseholders) relations, and more of the complexities of government and public administration. In June of 2021, I was honored to be sworn in as one of the youngest Harbormasters in the entire history of Port Milwaukee. I have brought my hands on experience of working on the island to this Harbor Commission appointed position, as defacto head of island security, senior staff manager, reporting directly to the Director of Port Milwaukee. Specialties: Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Government Administration, Transportation and Logistics Management and Administration
