About Eric Richardson

29 years ago I met with my first ever Financial Advisor. I was 22 years old. He asked me this question."What are your goals with regards to savings for retirement?" I still to this day remember that conversation like it was yesterday. If he had not asked that one question, I can only imagine how different my life would be today. I had watched my grandparents, yes both my grandpa and grandma on my mom's side of the family working construction in their 70's. I had basically watched my dad work himself into the grave. I did not want that kind of life. So, my response to the question was actually pretty simple,"I want to retire at 55 and I want you to show me what I need to do to do that". He was impressed by the goal and commended me on it. Then he showed me what I would need to do in his opinion to make that a reality. Well, here I am having just turned 51, heading off into my retirement 4 years before my goal, and I'm really proud of that! I'm also extremely thankful to everyone over the years that have played key roles with regards to my career. You know who you are and once again, thank you! As I move on, I know I'm going to relax, play golf, and finally enjoy better weather as Jane and I will be moving to our other house in Arizona in September. I've lived my entire life in the pacific northwest, and I have a lot of family and friends here. But, it's time to go warm up in AZ! I may jump into some SharePoint Consulting work in the future, I don't know. I'm just going to play it by ear. But for right now, it's really time for Jane and I to get a real chance to relax and just enjoy life for a while!
