About Eric Roberts

I am a recent graduate of Grand Valley State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Management. I have been working as an Environmental Technician at Professional Lake and Land Management since May 2021, managing a small crew to carry out herbicide treatments of public and private waterbodies. These treatments target invasive and nuisance aquatic plants. I have strong skills in written communication, GPS, GIS, and environmental compliance, which I apply in both field and office settings. In the field, I am responsible for operating and maintaining various boats and water pumps, and safely handling and transporting hazardous chemicals. While conducting treatments, I need to make decisions and calculations based on plant species, density, and treatment zone acreage. I follow regulations and permit restrictions set by Michigan EGLE (Environment, Great Lakes, & Energy). In the office, I monitor, update, and create accurate site maps using ESRI’s ArcMap, deal with managing different sets of data, and communicate with coworkers and customers to plan and prepare for treatments. I am passionate about protecting and restoring aquatic ecosystems, and I enjoy working with a diverse and dedicated team of professionals. I am eager to learn new skills and technologies, and to contribute to the company’s mission and vision.
