About Eric Sager

I have nearly nineteen years of experience in law enforcement, where I currently serve as a Sergeant. Working with people from every background has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, de‑escalate tense situations, and build trust quickly. The leadership courses I’ve completed, combined with years of supervising teams in high‑pressure environments, have shaped me into a confident, accountable leader who can make sound decisions with limited information.That background translates naturally into information science and technology. Modern law enforcement requires constant interaction with digital systems, data, and emerging technologies, and I’ve often been the person colleagues turn to when they need help navigating technical issues. The investigative mindset I’ve developed, attention to detail, pattern recognition, risk assessment, and a methodical approach to problem‑solving aligns directly with the analytical demands of the IT field. My experience handling sensitive information also gives me a strong foundation in privacy, security, and ethical data practices.Returning to school to pursue a degree in Information Science and Technology is a continuation of the work I’ve already been doing informally: troubleshooting, learning new systems, and helping others understand technology. It’s a path that lets me combine my leadership experience with my interest in computers and prepares me to transition into a career where those strengths can make an even greater impact.
