About Eric Schick

I have been uniquely challenged to represent our department and establish an excellent rapport with our collateral agency. I have been able to coordinate cross training Probation Officers with Police Officers to ensure continued enhanced communication and safety tactics while working side by side in the community. I am able to manage my caseload as well as serve as an acting supervisor, wherein I assigned cases, complete case reviews, review and sign reports, and work collaboratively with the other supervisors in the other regions in transferring of cases, served as the duty supervisor for the office and as the duty supervisor for the dispatchers on the 800mhz radio. represented the Probation Department in the creation of the Veterans House Module. It is a unique multi-agency program in that it is an incentive based housing module that only services the veteran population. On a weekly basis I met with a multidisciplinary team comprised of treatment providers, detention counselor, medical professionals and Attorneys. I meet with the veterans in the jail and assist with coordinating their probation supervision cases when appropriate.Furthermore, my collateral duties have included implementation of digitized urinalysis reporting, DPO and JI core instructor as well as many other administrative duties. I was on the speaker’s bureau list and provided presentations to the San Diego Police Academy, San Diego State University, University of San Diego, and Cal State University San Marcos, and various local high schools. These presentations have been Juvenile Law Overview, department recruitment and making positive choices. I have participated in numerous community outreach events through Star Pal, Shop with a Cop, fishing derby, sports camps, and golfing camps. I demonstrate an exceptional level of cooperation and teamwork. Local Police agencies and Sheriff's Office rely on my spirit of teamwork and cooperation. I have an enviable relationship with tribal police and I routinely worked with them to the point of being a liaison between tribal police and the sheriff's office on occasions, warranting superior diplomatic tact. I have a mastery of being keenly aware of the delicate balance of managing caseload demands while understanding the subtle diplomatic needs of working with tribal leaders. I maneuvered around potential cultural land mines with great success, as evidenced by my strong working relationship with tribal leaders.
