Background

About Eric Schuemann

I started my academic career at Grand Rapids Community College, where I also worked as a professional tutor, eventually receiving my BS in Geology at Grand Valley State University, working as a TA in several geoscience classes in addition to my coursework. Most recently I completed my M.S. in geoscience at UW-Milwaukee, working on shear fabrics as kinematic indicators in the Nemo area of the Black Hills, SD, with Dr. Dyanna Czeck (Professor and Chair, UW-Milwaukee) and Dr. Stephen Allard (Winona State University, MN).I am primarily interested in structural geology, global and planetary tectonics, Pleistocene glaciation, petrological analysis, geochemical analysis (SEM, EDS, EBSD), field mapping, GIS (ArcGIS Pro), teaching and academic mentoring/tutoring. Currently I work as a Geoscience Specialist with the Michigan Geological Survey in their aggregate resource inventory and mapping project funded by the MDNR, and I teach physical and environmental geology at Grand Rapids Community College's Lakeshore Campus. And. I can juggle and stand on my hands… intermittently well and not at the same time.
