About Eric Shumway

A seasoned economic and financing consultant and project manager with deep project finance experience in US and international markets, Eric Shumway has expertise in the regulatory reform of power markets, power project finance and financial modeling, infrastructure project development cycles, infrastructure procurement processes, structuring and processes, wholesale energy price forecasting, renewables grid integration, wholesale market integration issues (including cross-border project development), cost-benefit analysis, PPA and FSA negotiation and approval processes, and tariff setting. Clients include project developers, utilities, national governments, sectoral regulators, commercial lenders, multilateral development banks and bilateral development agencies. Eric has advised on over $15 billion of project transactions (mainly hydroelectric) and led energy market analyses for numerous transactions in US and international power markets. Eric also worked on, as transaction/market advisor, half a dozen coal-fired projects in Latin America and Africa. Transactions work typically involves negotiation of project risk allocation between a public entity (e.g, a state-owned enterprise) and the private project sponsor, with involvement by project lenders. Eric’s consulting experience is supplemented by his background as a power project developer, with involvement in projects from early stage through operation and exit.
