Background
About Eric Strother
Eric has over 26 years of experience in cultural resources management with more than 17 years managing small to large-scale projects throughout California and southern Nevada. He meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for prehistoric and historical archeology and the Society for California’s Archaeology’s professional qualification standards for Principal Investigator. At Kleinfelder, Eric serves as a Cultural Resources Program Manager for Kleinfelder’s Northern CA group while supervising 10 office staff and over 20 field staff. He oversees preparation of technical reports that meet CEQA and Section 106 standards for cultural resources and leads project management staff in the preparation of proposals. He also serves as technical editor and provides peer review for Kleinfelder cultural resources assessment reports prepared for Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG & E) projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Valley. Eric is cultural lead for Kleinfelder's PG & E Investigative Digs and Vegetation Management contracts which review cultural resources and how they relate to access and maintenance over existing gas lines throughout PG & E service territory. With a solid academic and professional background in human and non-human osteology, Eric serves as Kleinfelder’s lead Human Osteologist. He has conducted extensive research and archaeological fieldwork throughout California and has established good working relationships with local Native American Tribes. He has also taught introductory courses in biological anthropology and field archaeology at California State University, East Bay and has assisted the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department, Coroner’s Division, with forensic assessments. Kleinfelder maintains an on-call osteology contract with PG & E for inadvertent discoveries in the field; Eric serves as the point of contact and responds to PG & E crews when human or non-human bone is discovered during construction projects.
