About Eric Tapio

Discovery and answering fundamental questions about the world we live in is at the core of what I do. I help organizations succeed by developing, building, and deploying integrated systems that meet user’s needs so that these fundamental questions can be answered. Building complex systems, nevertheless, requires teams of talented individuals from different diverse backgrounds. With more than 15 years of technical leadership and systems engineering experience, I focus on developing highly effective teams and leading system projects through the entire project life cycle from conceptual design to realization and operation. As a systems engineer and project lead at NASA Ames Research Center, I've led multiple systems projects, including space systems, robotic systems, science payloads, and research support projects. My credentials include a Master’s degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University, selection into this year’s NASA agency-level Systems and Engineering Leadership Program, and I am currently pursuing a Project Management Professional certification. I also mentor to young professionals and students alike, helping them in areas of professional development and self-awareness. As an advisor, I have led several university student projects and assisting students develop technical and leadership excellence through the process of learning by doing.
