About Eric Therrien

During my time in the tech industry, I have had the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to become an expert with the technologies and tools used in DevOps, automation, and Cloud computing. My experience with various Infrastructure as a Service (Iaas) tools like Docker and Kubernetes has allowed me to create clusters of robust services that are used by developers to run automation tests and develop their applications in a multitude of environments and architectures. These images are then used as part of Multi-Branch Pipelines (MBP) stored as Jenkinfiles to handle all aspects of the development cycle. My Groovy scripts improved the other teams' release cycles by providing continuous and automated build, test, deploy, and publishing jobs, which helped simplify debugging, compartmentalize the different parts of the development cycle, and allow for more flexibility between different types of releases. My time in the DevOps space has also allowed me to become an expert with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This initially started with using Ansible to create and store ec2 instances and AMIs, but has since progressed to setting up databases for data storage and processing, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and IaaS to deploy and maintain large clusters, and created new users and roles to handle access & security for developers. Lately, I have been exploring the world of Terraform modules, and using them to create and maintain various assets AWS and Azure, as well as development pipelines in Azure DevOps. I'm also well versed in versioning control tools such as SVN and GitHub, as well as utilizing various scripts (Bash, Python, Perl) or GitHub Actions (GHA) to automate the manual labor of handling proper versioning between branches. My GHAs in particular were also used to kick off integration tests or build/deploy docker imaged, storing them and the artifacts created during my MBPs in Nexus Repositories. Currently, I am looking for new opportunities in the DevOps field and hope to join an agile team that would benefit from my past experience all while pushing me to explore cutting-edge technologies and grow my skillset in new and exciting ways!
