About Eric Toms

I am a filmmaker and comic, who currently hosts The Night of Shorts Night, Los Angeles's only monthly short film showcase. It is completely free for filmmakers to exhibit their work and free for audience members to join us and watch. Please check out our sponsors; The Writers Guild Foundation, Slamdance Film festival, Fox Searchlight, and Warner Brothers Home Ent. The Night of Shorts Night is the first Monday of every month at the Parlor in Hollywood from 8-10pm. From 2010 to 2015 I was the CEO and part owner of my own production company. Together with my partners, I produced two seasons of an international reality television show for Playboy TV, which shot in Miami, Hawaii and multiple locations in Central America. I also wrote and produced web commercials for Netflix, Cholula Hot Sauce and 7-11. I was in charge of a staff that, at our peak, employed over 25 people. I negotiated deals with local and national vendors, created line item budgets, scouted locations, oversaw editing, story-produced segments, rented equipment, hired and managed production members, created flyers, designed web sites and social media campaigns. I also provided the primary creative force for many of these efforts, concepting the shoots and story lines. Most recently, I worked on producing a short film with the organization Green Light Productions, which champions female writers and directors. I acted as well as produced, creating the budget, hiring the cinematographers, sound people, post editors, and shot additional segments. I am currently filming my first feature film, Bakersfield Noir, which will be available in early 2020. As my references will attest, I have a broad skill set, I work hard, I work collaboratively and I do it all with a sense of humor.
