About Eric van Eyken

Eric joined Clyde & Co in 2017 after pursuing a career in international arbitration at global and boutique law firms in Paris, Toronto, Miami, and Brussels. His experience with multiple legal systems and a pragmatic approach to the resolution of disputes allows him to find creative solutions and to understand in detail the business environment of his clients. His practice includes both domestic and international arbitration as well as commercial litigation involving issues of international law. He also provides coverage opinions to insurers on matters of cyber risk. In addition, he manages litigation risk involving professional services firms for insurers in the Lloyd’s market. His curiosity and appetite to dig for deeper understanding led him to pursue a LL.M. in international law, obtained on full scholarship from the International council for commercial arbitration (ICCA), at the University of Miami. Eric holds both common and civil law degrees, with distinction, from McGill University, along with a B.A. in economics and honors political science. He was called to the Quebec Bar and the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2011 and to the New York Bar in 2015. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including an honorable mention for his second place finish in the 2016 Paris Very Young Arbitrators arbitral award drafting competition and as one of three finalists for the 2020 Montreal Young Bar's "Leaders of Tomorrow" award in dispute resolution.
