About Eric Vaughn

I began my career in customer service for Windows XP. It's here that I began to learn the difference between how a company intends their products be used and how customers actually use them. I gained troubleshooting skills, customer service skills, patience, empathy, and thick skin dealing with frustrated and angry customers and helping them past their technical hurdles and onto a better day. I helped customers with thick accents and language barriers as well as disablities that made communication difficult. Mostly, I learned how easy it is for non-technical people to become frustrated when things don't work and how much they appreciate it when they do. This has imprinted on me the need to always champion the customer's needs as I test. I find that I am a detail oriented, task driven software test engineer/QA engineer. Over the years I have gained extensive experience testing various types of software and devices from desktops to tablets and smartphones. It can be an app, a web page, or the underlying operating system. Testing is what love and what I do best. It's always exciting to see what developers have worked so hard on long before the customer, having the opportunity to examine the product from top to bottom, looking for any defect and reporting what I find back to the developers so issues can be corrected prior to the delivery date. Some days it feels like I'm a kid with a new toy. Other days I get to sleuth about like Sherlock Holmes on the trail of a new mystery. I measure success with a simple question,"Is this a better product for my having been here to test it?" In every case so far, the answer has been,"Yes."
