About Eric Vinson

For more than two decades, I have successfully defended both public and private employers across a wide spectrum of employment discrimination and retaliation claims under federal and Texas law, including claims based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, whistleblower status, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, alleged protected constitutionally protected activities (including free speech), tenure determinations, and the Texas Sabine Pilot doctrine. Additionally, I have significant experience with non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. Before my return to private practice, I served in state government for more than a decade as a Senior Attorney in the Office of the Attorney General of Texas and most recently as the Executive Director of the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct. Highlights of my trial and appellate experience include: • Five arguments before the Federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals • Two arguments before the Texas Courts of Appeals • Ten jury trials, three bench trials, and two arbitrations • Extensive experience with expert witnesses, including exclusion under Daubert and Havner/Robinson • Presenter at thirty judicial conferences regarding judicial ethics In my spare time, I love hanging out with my amazing wife and son, playing guitar with the annual Austin Bar and Grill show, enjoying Austin's spectacular restaurant scene, and running enough to continue to enjoy Austin's spectacular restaurant scene.
