When I read LinkedIn profiles, we all look the same. So, I’m changing that conversation. I have struggled with self-descriptors because I don’t want to sound too conceited; yet, my description should lend credibility to being a marketing practitioner. Draw some conclusions about my drive by reading my work experience. I do not accept the label, “marketing”; rather, I manage the expectations of customers, whether internal or external, around a brand promise that I AM equipped to deliver.So what’s the conversation? I could craft the eloquent verbiage that paints me into the design of my resume. That’s what I do every day. I open conversations that make consumers want to purchase a product. Whether in creative mediums or practical interactions, I submerge myself into my work in order for the organization to benefit from increased consumer engagement. MY conversation is: I am the product, not the packaging that is a linen resume of glorified successes. My conversation begins with my LinkedIn profile in hopes that it sparks an interest in the person behind the description. I am passionate about service and believe that successful organizations integrate a sales culture that makes their brand tattoo worthy (read Denise Wymore’s book, Tattoos). I am adamant that from every level of the organizational totem pole, the proverbial buck can be stopped, owned and a resolution reached. I am a lover of words, diagramming sentences, Pepe (the Muppet shrimp), the $1 rack at any thrift store, Mid-Century design, Mad Men, manners and chocolate chip cookies. I detest word problems that involve a train leaving Boston, comic sans, pretentious conversation, managers that place boxes around perceptions, Dora the Explorer, intolerance and carrot raisin salad.
