About Eric Wellner

At first glance, I could be one of many. A typical seasoned team manager in the life science industry with many years of experience in "Big Pharma" and Medical Device industry. But what you can´t see in the list of things I did, is that deep in my heart I really burn for science and the difference it makes in peoples life. While my passion for science started with chemistry, many years and countless projects later, I realize that it is the contribution of all the nerds in all kind of labs and behind fume hoods and lab benches which makes the difference. Leading teams of chemists, biologists, material scientists and designers on an endeavor to find drugs or medical devices which help patients where no help was in sight, is a privilege. As a rock climber, I experienced what it means to visualize success and I strongly believe that the shared vision of many is much more worth than the genius of one. Although drug and active device development can be hard and frustrating work, I totally believe that next time I start an experiment the answer is - just around the corner.
