About Eric Wilkes

I have over 27 years of experience in wine and beverage research, production and distribution; both in Australia and the international market place with an emphasis on technical systems and new technology implementation. While focused on technical commercial activities within the wine sector I have also lead major research projects in areas such as the roles of oxygen and metals in wine; the formation and influence of sulphur compounds; the factors influencing cold stability; and the impacts of international bulk transport. I also have extensive experience in the assessment and development of new technologies for both beverage analysis and production. I am a past Chair of the Interwinery Analysis Group, co-chair of the FIVS Scientific and Technical committee, an industry representative in the World Wine Trade Group and am an active member of a number of international working groups on wine analysis and export regulations for organisations such as Codex and OIV. A regular speaker at national and international regulatory and wine chemistry conferences, I am the author of over 70 industry articles, 20+ peer reviewed papers and have presented more than 100 conference talks, workshops and webinars and a contributor to a number of books on wine analysis. I have a proven record in creating and implementing commercially viable and robust technical systems and processes in the quality/testing/lab/NPD environment and the ability to present complex scientific concepts in a practical and production oriented manner. I strive to build team environments where all staff can contribute to their maximum potential whilst being supported in achieving their individual goals.
