About Eric Winslow

Eric L. Winslow Jr. is a senior at Northeastern Illinois University where he is majoring in social work concentrating on Predominantly African and African-American. His interest in social work started while he was in highschool when notice lack of resources with his community. He learned about the inequalities affecting the african and African-American communities, the lack of black males role models/mentors within the school system, and lack of jobs. Inspired by this experience Eric joined group the group Men of colors in highschool where learned about, Integrity, ownership and discipline.While at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) Eric as done a lot great things there. Eric is the student government Vice President where use his voice to help students have a seat at the table when it comes to administrative decisions. Eric served as the chair for the 2018 Black History Month Committee, this was the first time a student was the committee chair. Moreover, Eric is currently the President of the NEIU Black student club Black Caucus where he advocate/ support African and African-Americans by running professional workshop, buying books for students, planning social events, and running trainings on accountability and advocacy for his African and African-American fellow brothers and sisters. After graduation Eric plans to spend the summer relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends before going into his masters in social work (MSW) program.
