About Erica Self

Experienced Registered Nurse, with 22 years of extensive and diverse direct patient care experience. Growth in direct and diplomatic communication skills, exceptional decorum, a competitive drive in fast paced environments with the ability to adapt quickly to change. Well rounded skills in many spectrums of health care ranging from pediatrics, skilled nursing, hospice, ER (Level I & Level II Trauma) Pre Operative Prep, and PACU (Level I Hospital). Fluent communication skills with Clinical MD’s, Emergency Room Physicians, Surgeons, and Anesthesiologists. Has maintained CEU’s, held multiple certifications in the areas mentioned above, including, but not limited to, TNCC, ACLS, PALS, SANE, HAZMAT, NIH, and CPI. As well as mentoring and precepting new graduate nurses, Practice Council member at the University of Kansas Medical Center, and has been selected by the University of Kansas Medical Center to participate in hospital wide LEAN Projects, and received two DAISY nominations and one DAISY award at KUMC in 2023. Excellence Award recipient in Healthcare Policy & Economics at Western Governors University, Spring Semester of 2023. Currently enrolled at Western Governors University in the RN-MSN program in Nursing Leadership and Management. Current position @ the University of Kansas Health System, Unit Coordinator.
