About Erick Aguilera

I hold a Master's Degree in Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to this, I completed my undergraduate studies at Cornell University, majoring in Government with a minor in Law and Society. These educational pursuits shaped my professional path, leading me to diverse opportunities in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Noteworthy experiences include working as a research associate for former Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s re-election campaign, serving as a legal assistant at Latherow & Duignan, and being a project assistant for the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus in Chicago. These roles expanded my interest in public service and inspired me to further develop my skills and knowledge through graduate education. During my time at the LBJ School, I developed a keen interest in formulating policies to address socioeconomic barriers, racial bias, and community development deficiencies in urban areas. Through a range of courses, I deepened my understanding of economic, political, analytical, and management principles relevant to policymaking. In my second year, I joined the City of Austin's Transportation and Public Works Department as a Business Process Specialist. This position allowed me to refine my data analysis, strategic planning, communication, and presentation skills acquired through coursework. Combining my knowledge, experience, skills, and passion for public service, my goal is to pursue a career focused on urban policy and economic development.
