About Erik Corwin

I have over 30 years of experience as a tax professional in the private sector and in government. This includes extensive experience advising clients with respect to tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, and financings, with a particular emphasis on transactions for private equity clients. I have worked regularly with debtors and creditors to navigate tax issues arising in debt restructurings, both in and out of bankruptcy. I also have extensive expertise with respect to tax issues affecting regulated investment companies ("RICs"), and have advised both RICs and their investment advisers with respect to Subchapter M requirements, the development of investment structures, the tax treatment of complex financial instruments, and transactional matters. Prior to assuming my current role as a principal in KPMG's Washington National Tax Corporate Group, I served as Deputy Chief Counsel (Technical) at the Internal Revenue Service.
