Background

About Erik Foxall

I have been a BIW Closures DRE since July 2021. Previous roles at FCA/Stellantis include Exterior Trim DRE, BIW Underbody DRE, and BIW Prototype Development Engineer. I have been involved with everything from initial studio design through product launch, as well as issue resolution for problems that have surfaced in current production vehicles. From August 2015 through September 2016, I worked as a Product Engineer for Sodecia North America, located in Center Line, Michigan. My main responsibilities involved writing Tech Review presentations for the RFQs we received, worked with the customer to understand design requirements and design changes and relayed the information to the Sodecia team, ensured that we were working to the correct math data (CAD data and BOM), and followed engineering changes from request through completion. Previously, I was a contract employee at FCA through Venteon. At FCA, I worked as a Product Engineer for BIW, and was directly involved in the design of BIW components and assemblies. I worked in this role from June 2014 - August 2015, when I accepted the position with Sodecia. In this position, I worked with both internal groups and the supplier to implement the best designs possible. In November 2012, I was hired by RCO Engineering to work as a contract Design Release Engineer at the GM Tech Center in Warren. As a lower-structures DRE, I used UG/NX to review part designs, and design-change requests. I interacted with suppliers and other internal groups to root-cause and resolve build issues. I inspected parts on the build floor and at suppliers to make sure parts were being made to the required specifications. I also issued work-orders to implement design changes, and followed through with the process until changes were implemented by the supplier(s). In 2012, I had the opportunity to work as a Co-Op student for Oxford Forge (an AAM company). During my 4-month Co-Op, I learned how to use Unigraphics NX 7.0, as well as gain an understanding of day-to-day operations of a manufacturing facility. I also have experience working in the retail industry, having worked for Costco from March 2004 until December 2012.
