About Erik Stens

From fractal zooms and protein folding to rendering brain tumor images, I’ve always been fascinated by how computers can unlock possibilities that seem near-impossible otherwise. My curiosity for puzzles and complex systems led me to study Molecular Life Sciences, where I learned to appreciate life’s intricate design—yet also discovered that pure research wasn’t my calling. Instead, I found my passion in harnessing technology for practical solutions, especially within scientific and industrial settings. During my studies, I specialized in Bio-Informatics and completed internships in data-heavy research groups, where I developed a keen interest in machine vision and image processing. Through these experiences, I realized the impact computers can have in turning complex data into actionable insights. This naturally guided me towards an engineering career where creativity, problem-solving, and real-world impact converge. Today, I’m a systems engineer for machine vision at a semiconductor equipment manufacturer, bringing eleven years of practical experience to the table. My deep interest in computer graphics, data analysis, and automation drives my approach to problem-solving. Beyond work, I still love applying these skills to digital engineering, CNC milling, and photorealistic rendering—any project that challenges me to create something intricate, beautiful, or both. Ultimately, I thrive on bridging scientific understanding with robust engineering solutions. Whether it’s deciphering patterns in big data, optimizing high-precision vision systems, or crafting digital artistry, I’m driven by the same excitement I’ve had since childhood: discovering how far a curious mind and a computer can go.
